Search demand for filament suppliers, manufacturers and private label programs is increasing, but a low unit price is not enough to qualify an OEM partner. FILAMENTLAB recommends comparing suppliers against a written technical and commercial checklist before ordering production quantities.

For distributors and workshops in Kenya and East Africa, confirm humidity-control, spare-part and delivery requirements before specifying a material.

RFQ checklist

  • Exact polymer, grade, color standard and hardness where applicable.
  • Nominal diameter, tolerance method and inspection record.
  • Available TDS and SDS, plus any compliance documents the buyer actually requires.
  • Spool type, net weight, winding method, desiccant and carton specification.
  • MOQ, sample quantity, production lead time and change-control process.
  • Batch identification and traceability from raw-material receipt to shipment.
  • Private-label artwork, barcode and packaging approval steps.

Ask for the documents that are genuinely available; a certificate logo is not a substitute for a valid document tied to the supplier and material.

Approve the sample before the batch

Print the sample in the intended orientation and record printer, nozzle, temperatures, speed and batch. Measure critical dimensions, inspect surface and packaging, and confirm that the proposed production specification matches the approved sample. Keep the approved sample and signed specification as the reference for reorders.
